Hellfire Brand Club approached Clyde Presentation Packaging with a unique challenge: to create a custom, high-end presentation box for Skellig Irish Whiskey‘s Dark Sky Reserve.
This exclusive, limited-edition release featured an exceptional 23-year-old single malt whiskey, inspired by the UNESCO heritage site at the point where the stars meet the sea. It was distilled at the turn of the century and Atlantic Aged under the stars that have guided kings, travellers, merchants for centuries along the Western coast of Ireland towards America, Europe, and Asia. This whiskey is designed to honour personal journeys of achievement and character, aligning perfectly with the heritage of Skellig Irish Whiskey.
The Need
The box needed to reflect the extraordinary nature of the product it contained. It had to be a true representation of the whiskey’s premium quality, craftsmanship, and the rich story behind its creation. The client was clear that they needed a packaging solution that would not only stand out visually but also provide an experience for the consumer – elevating the anticipation and excitement of receiving and opening such a fine product.
The goal was clear: design a box that matched the luxury and exclusivity of the whiskey inside.
How We Helped
Clyde Presentation Packaging went to work, carefully crafting a solution that met Skellig’s needs.
We started by sourcing premium solid oak, selected for its weight and natural beauty, which immediately gave the box the right presence and durability. The outside stain and varnish provided a sleek, sophisticated finish while allowing the grain of the wood to shine through.
The challenge was to make the design elements as striking as the product itself, so we incorporated pinstripe foiling and foiled logos both inside and outside the box, as requested. The areas of hot stamping were meticulously executed to ensure that each detail, from the Skellig logo to the subtle, intricate accents, was bold yet refined.
For the interior, we included a mirror with a stamped logo to tie into the brand story. This elevated the overall sense of luxury, allowing customers to engage with the product in a visually stunning way. We also created a practical and elegant drawer at the base of the box to hold a set of Valentia slate coasters and an informational booklet, further enhancing the tactile experience of the unboxing process.
The base plate and neck collar was chosen to provide a luxurious feel, ensuring the contents were cradled securely. Every detail, from the heavy clasp for closure to the precise finish on the foiling, was executed with care, elevating the experience of opening the box to an unforgettable level of luxury.
The final result was a presentation box that not only met but exceeded Hellfire Brand Club’s expectations. The combination of wood, foiling, engraving, thoughtful design and creative solutions created a box that felt substantial, elegant, and entirely fitting for the exceptional whiskey it contained.
